After I ask a few questions, it becomes crystal clear why the person hasn’t been successful in landing a job. It has nothing to do with the employment market being tough. There are lots of jobs out there and employers struggle to find good talent. So, why is that so many people struggle to find work? Here are my top reasons why:
It’s the end of the week. What did you accomplish this week? Did you get praise from your boss for a job well done? Did you get praise from a client? Did you finish a big project? Did you close a deal? If you accomplished anything this week, no matter how small, write it down and stash it in your Accomplishments file. Here are the reasons why you should always keep a rolling list of your accomplishments.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. And, the job search process can get pretty desperate, driving many to do things that they wouldn’t normally do. However, no matter how bleak it may seem, there’s never a good reason to be dishonest during the job search process. Here are some surefire ways to get canned before you even get the job.
Resume length depends largely on your experience level and the level of the position (entry level, executive, etc.) that you’re seeking.
